Three Area Fire Departments Receive Grants From Iowa DNR

More than $206,000 of 50 percent cost-share grants have been awarded to 83 rural Iowa fire departments by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The grant money will be used to aid efforts in protecting Iowan’s and their property from wildfires through assistance with wildfire suppression, personal protective gear and communications equipment. The Manilla Volunteer Fire Department, Rockwell City Fire and Elk Horn Fire Departments will receive funds through the grants, which are made possible through the Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Services-State and Private Forestry.
