SUV Catches Fire After Single-Vehicle Accident

A 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada was deemed a total loss after an accident resulted in the vehicle catching fire on Friday evening. At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Sept. 9, the Carroll County Sheriff’s office received a report that the vehicle, which was driven by 54-year-old Jackie Nelson Cain of Glidden, was eastbound on 215th Street, southeast of Carroll, when she lost control and entered the north ditch. Cain overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the north ditch and enter the south ditch where it got stuck. At that point in time, the vehicle had only sustained minor damages, but it then started on fire. Cain left the scene of the accident, but was later contacted and arrested. She has been charged with failure to maintain control, no valid driver’s license and operating while intoxicated, second offense. Cain complained of minor injuries, but was not transported for treatment.
