Students Can Win Up To $100,000 By Creating A Documentary Through C-SPAN

Students across the nation are getting the chance to show their video and interview prowess creating documentaries and have the opportunity to win a huge cash prize. C-Span and Mediacom announced the start of this year’s annual student documentary competition, known as “StudentCam”, and ecourage middle school and high school students to participate in the contest. This marks the 13th year of the competition and a new topic is chosen for each challenge to enhance student understanding and interest in U.S. government. This year’s topic is “Your message to Washington: What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to Address in 2017?” Cash prizes up to $100,000 in total will be awarded to the winning entries and the top student documentaries will be announced in March 2017. Videos receiving the most votes will be aired on C-SPAN in April. Students interested in entering will need to create a five to seven minute video and submit it online between Nov. 1 and Jan. 20.
