SSC Superintendent, Kruse, To Add Ar-We-Va To His List

South Central Calhoun Superintendent, Jeff Kruse, has had a pretty full plate the last several years, not only sharing superintendent duties between South Central and Laurens-Marathon, but operating a family farm as well. And, on July 1, he will be adding another job to that long list when he takes over at the helm of the Ar-We-Va Community School District. Kruse said his week is going to be structured around these shared positions.

Currently, Laurens-Marathon is in a partial-day sharing with Pocahontas Area Community School District, much like Ar-We-Va is with Carroll. He said there are talks about expanding that sharing agreement with Pocahontas, but nothing is on the near horizon yet for that position to change. Kruse said he is, however, looking to his personal future.

One of the first things that will be done, according to Kruse, is to sit down with the part-time administrators to develop the new structure. He will also begin working on building a relationship with the administration at Carroll Community School District and working out the logistics for the new partial-day sharing agreement that will go into effect this fall. He said the nuts and bolts are taken care of in the sharing contract, it will just take time to do the fine-tuning. As far as changes at the South Central Calhoun District, Kruse said they have already talked a little bit about a transition plan to address his desire to downscale in a couple of years. There are currently three strong principals in the district and this new arrangement will certainly shift some of the shared responsibilities solely into their management.
