With all of the talk of raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, and three Iowa counties taking steps to begin raising their rates over the next couple of years, the data-driven list makers at Zippia have calculated which jobs in our state pay the least. Just making the list at number 100 is the communication’s field made up of radio and television announcers with an average salary of $28,500. Taking a look at the top 10 worst paying jobs doesn’t really hold many surprises, with the exception of one, gaming dealers who were ranked number three, taking home only a “reported” $17,880. The food-service industry takes six of the top 10 spots while jobs most often associated as “youth” or seasonal occupations make up the difference with lifeguards at number five earning $18,050 per year and movie picture projectionists landing in the number one spot, earning the least amount in the state with an annual salary average of $17,710.
