Snowy Shoulder Cited As Cause Of Single-Vehicle Accident

A snow-covered shoulder is believed to be responsible for a single-vehicle accident that occurred earlier this week on Highway 71 near Carroll. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported to the scene to find 34-year-old Christopher Francis Stubbs of Audubon had veered his northbound 2005 Honda Accord, onto the east shoulder of the road, losing control in the snow. In trying to correct, he traveled across the highway and struck a No Passing sign before coming to a rest in the west ditch. No injuries were reported, but the Stubbs vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.
