Sen. Chuck Grassley Says Claims Of Obstruction Are Unfounded

Iowan Republican. Sen. Charles Grassley, responded to claims from his senatorial challenger, Patty Judge, that he is opposed to a properly functioning government during an interview on Thursday. Judge refers to his decision as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Grassley is refusing to hold hearings on President Obama’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, but he says it is only a matter of letting the next president make the nomination.

He says once the next president takes office, regardless of who that may be, the next stage is to vet those candidates as normal. Grassley notes the process for this Supreme Court nomination is much the same as it has been in the past.

Judge’s partisan obstruction claims are unfounded according to Grassley.

He says the facts are with him based on a Georgetown University study released in March ranking him the fifth most likely senator to work across the aisle when sponsoring or voting on bills. A link to that study can be found included with this story on our website.
