Sauk Rail Trail Assoc. kicks off season with live music & fun this Sunday

Tomorrow (Sunday, April 2) the Sauk Rail Trail Association will kick-off the 2016 riding season with a full afternoon of family fun. The Whiskey Run in Maple River will host several live musical performances out on the trail beginning at 2:00 pm. Hungry patrons can also chow down on burgers and brats; with part of the proceeds going back to support the trail system. Organizer Pat Staiert says there’s another great way to show your support and possibly even take home a prize.

A Budweiser Bicycle is one of the raffle prizes and is currently on display at the Whiskey Run. Other raffle items include a weekend get-away at Haggie Park or Swan Lake State Park as well as a tasting session at Iowa Legendary Rye. Staiert says the number of people who use the trail system each year has increased as people take a more active role in maintaining their health. Trail supporters who might need a little extra incentive to get out and get moving this summer could find it as the trail will be blessed during the Whiskey Run event.

The event is free with doors opening at the Whiskey Run at 1:00 pm. Sauk Rail Trail memberships will be available for purchase, and any new lifetime pass purchase will come with 3 bonus raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are still available at the Whiskey Run in Maple River, Lakeshore Cyclery in Storm Lake, ISEC Bike Shop and Iowa E-Bike both in Carroll.
