Sac City Farmer Is ISA Experience Participant

LaVerne Arndt of Sac City is joining nine other farmers from across Iowa in deepening their knowledge of the soybean industry as Iowa Soybean Association Experience participants. The farmers will participate in a four-part professional development program throughout the year that engages them in activities and discussions that enhance their knowledge and understanding of the structure and activities of the Iowa Soybean Association and the topics vital to affecting the competitiveness of soybean farmers in production, demand, policy and information/communications. Heather Lilienthal, director of ISA’s producer services team, says the program is tailored specifically to issues impacting soybean production and is designed to help members understand how checkoff dollars are being invested and what programs are developed and distributed. Two sessions have already been held and the next leg will take place in June with a focus on international and domestic uses and trade. The August session will be dedicated to consumer awareness, marketing and membership topics. The other farmer participants are: Scot Bailey of Anita; Brad Buchanan of Cedar Rapids; Dan Chism of Emmetsburg; Jeff Ellis of Donnellson; Kevin Glanz of Manchester; Kurt Moffitt of Indianola; Greg Rinehart of Boone; Tim Smith of Eagle Grove; and Tom Vincent of Perry.
