Sac City And Developer Closer To Agreement On Housing Project

The proposed housing development on the southern edge of Sac City is currently under negotiations, and the city council is expected to begin moving forward on confirming details of the arrangement. City Administrator, Adam Ledford, says the housing committee will bring details to the council.

Before either party moves forward on the project, they are searching for assurances from the other side. Sac City is seeking to annex the property into city limits, and Harman is seeking for tax increment financing (TIF) to make developing the properties more tax effective. According to Ledford, those assurances should be made soon.

The initial cost for the city to provide utility and road services to the area is about $1.2 million, but Ledford says there are far more benefits than drawbacks.

Discussions on the proposed agreement will take place at the next Sac City City Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13 in the city hall at 5 p.m.
