At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a four-wheeler accident southeast of Manning, on 110th Street near Eagle Ave. They arrived to find 75-year-old Merlin Borkowski of rural Manning in the north ditch. It was determined that he was westbound on 110th Street when, for unknown reasons, he abruptly swerved into the ditch. The four-wheeler rolled and Borkowski was ejected. He was transported to Manning Regional Healthcare Center, but later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
