Ruggles Says He Is There To Listen To The People As The Carroll County Fifth-District Supervisor

Republican candidate for the District Five Carroll County Supervisor’s seat, Richard Ruggles, defeated fellow Republican, Tony Konkler, in the June Primary election to get his name included on the ballot for the general election Tuesday, Nov. 8. He is now running unopposed, but Ruggles says this has not meant he has stopped going the extra mile in learning more about the position. Attending the meetings has really helped him understand where they are at in the processes with different issues and where the board is headed. He added, the time spent campaigning has helped him learn more about the people the board serves and what he needs to do to be successful.

Ruggles said he believed the major issues facing the county were discussed at the Chamber candidate forum and the current state of the jail is one that will need to be addressed in the next five years. He also pointed out that he is open-minded about the issues and identified a few that he thinks will be raised during the next term.

He wants everyone to know he will be there to listen and to represent them in the best way possible.

He said that there are two schools of thoughts on this election. The first is that the heated presidential race will draw people to the polls, and the other side of the coin, is that people are not happy and will not show up to vote. Ruggles says he hopes people will exercise this right and wants everyone to know that their vote matters. We will bring you more from local and regional candidates in upcoming broadcasts.
