Republican Mark Segebart Will Continue Serving As District Six’s Senator

The Iowa Senate District 6 race ended with Republican incumbent, Mark Segebart, winning the race with 20,186 of the votes to his Libertarian challenger, Nick Serianni’s, 4,039. Segebart was resting after a day in the fields when he heard the news.

He says the next legislative session in Des Moines will be a bit different than he has seen during his time as District 6’s senator.

Segebart says his opponent helped to keep his election bid on track. Not campaigning against a democrat was a bit different for Segebart, and he congratulated Serianni on a great campaign.

He believes the Senate will be able to move bills through much more quickly with Republican control of Iowa’s Congress and the Governor’s Office. Iowa Republicans are holding caucuses on Friday, Nov. 11, to select the majority leader.
