Renewable Energy Group (REG), North America’s largest producer of biomass-based diesel, has announced their plans to invest $24 million to expand their Ralston biorefinery from 12 million to 30 million gallons of production capacity. A special groundbreaking ceremony will be held in Ralston on Tuesday, Nov. 8, with Gov. Terry Branstad as the featured speaker. “Ralston is where it all began for REG, said President and CEO, Daniel J. Oh. “The experience and lessons we have learned, and are still learning, have helped our company grow into what it is today.” Once completed, the Ralston expansion will increase REG’s total capacity from its 11 active biomass-based diesel plants across the country to 470 million gallons annually.
