Public Asked To Help Scranton By Voting For Park Improvement Grant

The community of Scranton has applied for a $10,000 Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation grant for improvements at their city park. The project, which is focused on improving safety by replacing old equipment and containing foundation materials, is estimated to cost approximately $70,000. To date, the city has raised nearly $11,000 through donations. They are also asking for the public to help out with the grant application by voting for the project on the Wellmark Foundation Facebook page. Scranton City Clerk, Melinda Hinners, says that in this instance, Scranton does not have to get the most votes, they just have to demonstrate strong community support. Voting will be open until Wednesday, Oct. 5, and can be done through the link included below. Grant recipients will be notified in November of the planned distributions.
