Prescription Drug Drop Box To Be Placed Near Carroll County Sheriff’s Office

The National Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) allows local law enforcement to collect controlled substances, such as unused or outdated medications. Earlier this week, Sheriff Ken Pingrey introduced the Carroll County Board of Supervisors to a permanent drop box option that can be placed outside of the Sheriff’s offices on the lower level of the Carroll County Courthouse.

Pingrey added they would advertise initially to let people know this is a convenient and safe way to dispose of their medications.

He said the weight of the box, the cameras in the hallway and the proximity to law enforcement offices would make the placement secure. Chair Neil Bock said he knows there are specific collection days set up throughout the course of the year, but this is a good, viable, year-round alternative for county residents. None of the supervisors opposed placement of the drop box in the suggested location.
