Pokemon Go Is As Invasive As It Is Entertaining

Pokemon Go may be the hottest app in the world right now, but privacy activists are giving the augmented reality game a chilly reception. According to technology expert, Dr. Josef Ansorge, says that these types of invasive technology remove the ability to protect one’s own personal privacy. “Recent technological innovations have essentially removed the last shred of any anonymous public sphere,” says Ansorge. Author of the book, Identify & Sort, he adds that instead of attempting to prevent this development, it is more practical to ensure that consumers have the right to control their personal data. Ansorge claims that Pokemon Go is another invisible way to identify and track individuals and collect data for categorization of citizens that could even be used in ways to determine financial risks, access personal records and evaluate people for employment.
