Carroll County is marking its 13th year as a top 10 in the nation per capita county for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and will be kicking off the 2016 “Paint Your World Purple” theme with their rally on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the Carrollton. This year’s theme is a call to action for Relayers across the nation to demonstrate solidarity in the fight against cancer. Attendees are asked to dress in purple or wear Relay team shirts. Survivors are invited to wear their survivor t-shirts and sashes. Chairing this year’s event are Tony and Julie Pietig and Brandon and Teresa Vonnahme, all of Carroll. The 2016 Carroll County Relay for Life will be held Friday, June 24, beginning at noon at the Carroll Stadium. Approximately $200,000 was raised in support of American Cancer Society programs during the 2015 Carroll County Relay for Life.
