One dead, two critically injured following crash on Hwy 71 north of Carroll

An accident north of Carroll on Highway 71 claimed the life of one person and critically injured two others on Monday afternoon, April 25. The accident, which occurred at approximately 2:00 pm, is currently under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. The accident involved a northbound and southbound car which collided head-on in the northbound lane on Highway 71 near Agri-bolt. The Carroll County Fire Department was called to the scene to extricate the three victims via mechanical means from the vehicles.

Carroll County Sheriff Ken Pingrey reports that one person has died in the accident while two others were life-flighted to a hospital in Des Moines. No further details have been released at this time as family members are still being notified. The Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene, and authorities were at the location for approximately two hours. We’ll bring you more details as they become available.
