On Caucus Day Donald Trump’s son makes campaign stop in Carroll

Eric Trump and his wife Laura made a campaign stop in Carroll this afternoon on behalf of his father, Donald Trump, who is leading the Republican field going into the first caucus in the country tonight in Iowa. Eric said the entire family joined into this race with their dad about eight months ago, and they could see the frustration in his father’s eyes about where this country is going. Then, he opened the paper and saw $19 trillion in debt with another $2 trillion added just a couple of months ago through a Republican deal. He told his children that we are effectively bankrupting the country, we are treating our veterans horribly, our military is not what it once was or where it needs to be and our education system is 28th in the world. What is happening, he said, is a joke. Donald Trump is not doing this because he needs a job, Eric said. He is doing this to give back to his country and he is a great negotiator, has a great business mind and he is a practical no-nonsense guy.

Eric said he is a newcomer to this entire process and has never even been to a caucus before, but all of Donald’s children, including Ivanka who is nine months pregnant, are out talking to as many people as they can because it is time to move away from leadership that is in the pockets of lobbyists and special interest groups. His father, he said, is in this thing to win it and is deadly serious about it. And when asked about constituents who have concerns about Donald Trump’s bigger than life persona and bombastic personality, Eric said it is time to stop playing the nice guy. He said that role has only gotten us increased trade deficits and loss of world-wide respect and it is time to stir things up a bit.

He went on to say that what we need to do is be best friends with our true allies and the worst enemies to those treating the United States poorly. And when it comes to his father leading the country, contrary to news reports that he will rely on the “Twittersphere” to build a cabinet, he will use a lot of common sense to run this country.

The Iowa caucuses will get underway at 7 p.m. tonight. Information on caucus locations can be found on the Iowa Republican and Democratic party websites.
