Off-Road Vehicles Are Street-Legal After Glidden Passes Ordinance

The final reading of the ordinance allowing off-road vehicles to be street legal was delivered and passed at the Glidden City Council Meeting on Monday night. The change now allows ATV and utility vehicle owners to travel on city streets legally. According to City Clerk, Suzy Danner, certain stipulations must be met to use these vehicles in city limits.

The vehicles still need to be registered with city hall before being allowed on the roads, and registration only costs $20. After the proper filings are complete, owners will need to attach a sticker from the city on the vehicle to signify compliance. Danner says the off-road vehicles will be subject to all of the same restrictions other automobiles must follow, and special care must be used on certain roads in town.

Operators must follow all speed limits, road signs and other posted regulations. The ordinance officially is in place after a printed copy of the ordinance change is made public in the Glidden Graphic on Thursday, Dec. 15
