Manufacturing month is celebrated in October and Executive Director of the Carroll Area Development Corporation, Shannon Landauer, said this gives academic institutions, manufacturers and workforce development leaders and associations in Iowa the chance to come together and recognize more than 6,000 manufacturers who employ over 215,000 people across the state. And, she adds, today’s manufacturing is probably much different than what people may imagine.
The state of Iowa is encouraging every county to do something special to highlight manufacturing, with national recognition formally taking place on Friday, Oct. 7. Landauer said that day, and any day throughout the rest of the month, is a great time to thank these businesses for what they do for our people and the economy in our area.
Data from Iowa Workforce Development shows that in 2014, Carroll County had an average of 1,211 jobs in manufacturing with an average salary over $44,000.
