At approximately 2:57 p.m. Monday, May 16, the Carroll County and Greene County Sheriff’s Offices reported to the scene of a vehicle/semi-tractor accident on 230th Street and Apple Ave. south of Ralston. Twenty-two-year-old Amy Lynn Patricia Gaines of Carroll was southbound on Apple Ave. in a 2007 Volkswagon Passat and made a U turn at 230th Street. A 2004 Peterbilt truck, driven by 28-year-old Jonathan Ray Carter of Coon Rapids, was northbound on Apple Ave. when Gaines pulled into the roadway and struck the passenger side of his vehicle. No injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $3,500 in damage to the Gaines vehicle and $500 damage to the semi-tractor. Gaines was charged with Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
