NASS Analysis Of 2016 Year In Agriculture Now Available

The 2016 harvest is about 99 percent in the books, and reports have been showing the growing season may well go down as another bumper year for Iowa farmers. A different book, compiled by the Iowa Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Services (NASS) and released by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) provides a comprehensive analysis of 2016 Iowa agriculture. This book shows how Iowa farmers led the nation in corn production, with over 15 percent of U.S. corn crop last year, and that the Iowa soybean harvest was also the largest in the nation at 12 percent. Additionally, Iowa holds the top spot in pork and egg production and ranks second nationally in red meat production. The 119-page book includes crop and livestock information along with farm economics in statistical profiles on the state and county levels. The $12 book can be ordered from the Marketing and Communications Division of Iowa Farm Bureau at 5400 University Ave., West Des Moines, Iowa 50266. Checks should be made payable to Iowa Farm Bureau.
