MRHC & IKM-Manning Art Students Create Heart Art For American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month and for the second consecutive year, Manning Regional Healthcare Center has teamed up with IKM-Manning High School art students to fill the hallways throughout the hospital and clinic with “Heart Art” for the entire month. Marketing Coordinator for MRHC, Sarah Foley, said they wanted to do something to remind patients and the local community about the importance of heart health and art teacher, Jean Ferneding, had a number of students interested in helping create the artwork. MRHC has supplied the class with canvasses and the students’ only direction was to paint whatever heart meant to them. The results, Foley said, are a variety of beautiful and unique acrylic paintings from the abstract to various heart designs. The paintings will be on display in MRHC’s main corridors for public viewing for the entire month of February and will also be displayed at MRHC’s biennial Heart to Heart event at the German Hausbarn Konferenz Centre on Wednesday, Feb. 17. At the end of February, the artwork will be returned to the student artists.
