Merck Animal Care Contributes To Youth Programs For Producers Turning In ‘Cartridges For Cash’

Cattle producers across the state now have a chance to support the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation by hanging onto leftover treatment tools to turn in for cash. Merck Animal Health’s “Cartridges for Cash” program, previously known as “Wheels for Bucks”, allows cattlemen to collect Revalor-XS and Ralgro cartridges and earn one dollar and 50 cents, respectively, for each cartridge collected. The two products are used to increase rate of gain and feed efficiency in feed lots by stimulating the pituitary gland in cattle. Youth and Outreach Coordinator for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation, Mary Greiman, says “This will mark the 15th year that Merck Animal Health has partnered with the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation to help raise money for youth education funding, including college scholarships.” She goes on to thank all those that contribute to the cause, such as veterinarians and producers using the products. Money donated to the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation by Merck Animal Health goes to fund and expand programs for kids and young adults interested in livestock. Iowa cattlemen and animal care professionals are encouraged to save their used Ralgro and Revalor-XS cartridges and bring them to Iowa Cattle Industry Leadership Summit on December 10. They can contact Greiman by phone at 515-296-2266 to arrange a pickup before that date or visit the link included with this story on our website for more information on the Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation.
