Manning Voters Approve Hotel/Motel Tax

As the physical structure of the new Boulders Inn Manning takes shape on the east side of town, the city held a special election last night (Tuesday), asking voters to incorporate a seven percent hotel/motel tax to be applied to lodging rentals within the city limits. The special election garnered a total of only 51 votes, and the tax passed with a vote of 49 in favor and two against. The election has met the state’s requirements for implementation of the tax on a start date of July 1. The limited liability corporation that is overseeing the construction of the new Boulders is anticipating opening in October of this year.
