Local Students To Participate In Youth Straw Poll

Iowa Secretary of State, Paul Pate, is organizing a statewide Iowa Youth Straw Poll that is scheduled to take place in schools across Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Students will vote in the U.S. presidential race as well as Iowa’s U.S. Senate and congressional races. Approximately 200 schools across Iowa have already registered to participate, including area schools: Glidden-Ralston; Greene County High School; Harlan Community High School; Coon Rapids Bayard; Odebolt Arthur-Battle Creek-Ida Grove Community School; and Storm Lake High School. The statewide results will be announced later in the day Nov. 1. Pate says the goal of the poll is to engage students in hands-on learning that will inspire them to participate in civics within their communities. Schools can still sign up to participate by following the link included below.
