Landus Cooperative Completes $27 Million SoyPlus Facility Expansion

Landus Cooperative has announced the completion of their $27 million addition to the SoyPlus manufacturing facility in Ralston. This renovation will increase processing capacity of the industry-leading bypass protein dairy feed ingredient by 50 percent. The expansion creates demand for an additional six million bushels of soybeans each year, bringing the total bushels used annually to 20 million. Landus Cooperative is estimating that nearly 50 percent of all soybeans purchased from farmers this year at their nearly 70 grain locations will be processed into SoyPlus at the Ralston plant. The facility has also created 11 new full-time positions. Landus CEO, Milan Kucerak said, “This project demonstrates our commitment to long-term investments in value-added products for the benefit of our farmer-owners, dairy customers and local communities alike.” The expansion construction has remained on schedule since the announcement in June of 2015. Contractors included Ames-based Todd & Sargent and ACI Mechanical as well as Sioux Center-based Interstates Companies.
