Lake View Police Officers To Be Carrying Tasers Soon

The Lake View Police Department made changes to their standard operating procedure (SOP) to make their operations more efficient and more in line with modern police methods. Lake View Chief of Police, Royce Kemman, says it has been 17 years since the last update.

The biggest change made is the use of new equipment by the Lake View Police.

The tasers arrived at the department on Monday, Nov. 21, but officers will not be using the new equipment until they have been trained. They will not have to travel far to receive those certifications.

That officer, Brian Mentzer, will be their instructor. In order to be certified in Iowa, the officers must complete four hours of online training and two days of hands-on training before they are allowed to carry tasers.
