Kuemper Catholic High School has announced they will be receiving the 2A Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup during a special awards ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the Kuemper High School gymnasium. President John Steffes says they are honored to be the recipients of this award again this year.

The statewide competition includes all high schools that are members of the Iowa High School Athletic Association, Iowa High School Music Association, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and the Iowa High School Speech Association. Steffes said this award encourages the development of well-rounded students.

Kuemper scored a total of 1040 points for the 2015/16 school year, with the most points, 75, scored for large group speech. Baseball and boys soccer scored second with 70 points each. Steffes said students, faculty, staff and families are all proud of the work they have done to receive this recognition.

The $2,000 will go to the student council fund and the student leaders will decide how to distribute the money in programs throughout the school. The breakdown of scoring can be seen by following the link included below. The public is invited to attend the ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m.
