Kuemper Kicks Off School Year With Open House

The kick-off to the 2016/17 school year for Kuemper Catholic Schools starts today (Monday) with the Holy Spirit open house at 5 p.m. and Family Fun Night at 5:30 p.m.  And, when classes get underway on Wednesday, Aug. 24, students and staff will be welcoming some new employees into the Kuemper system. President John Steffes said that in addition to new high school principal, Pete Haefs, and his wife Mendy, who will be teaching middle school Language Arts, Technology and kindergarten through 12th grade English Language Learner, all areas of the system will see more new faces.

Other new staff members include Bailey Hackathorn who will be serving as a high school counselor, Vicky Rotert, the new high school Theology instructor, Ashley Klocke, who is a new third-grade teacher’s aide and Julie Gehling, Beth Schaefer and Marsha Rupiper who will all be working in food service for the school. Students will get the chance to meet the newest members of the Kuemper family at sixth grade and freshman orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Sixth graders will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and freshman orientation will take place from 10:30 a.m.to 1:30 p.m.
