Kuemper Announces Haefs As New High School Principal

Kuemper Catholic School System has announced the hiring of Pete Haefs as the new high school principal. Haefs will be replacing Penny Miller, who announced her intentions last November to retire at the end of the 2015/16 school year. Haefs, who will take over for the 2016/17 school year, is currently the principal for the St. Catherine-St. Mary’s Catholic School System in Remsen. A native of Hinton, Heafs received his Bachelor’s Degree from Briar Cliff University and his Master’s in Education Administration from Wayne State. Prior to his current position, he taught high school social studies for the Hinton Community School District. Haefs says that teaching in Catholic Schools has helped his entire family grow closer to God through his time spent leading in a Christ-centered environment. He adds that he is looking forward to continuing down that path with the Kuemper family. Haefs and his wife, Mendy, live in Remsen with their three children: Breanna, a senior in high school; Drave, a sophomore in high school; and Aislinn, a seventh-grader.
