Kuemper Accepts Award During Assembly Tuesday Morning

Kuemper Catholic High School held an assembly Tuesday morning to accept the Bank Iowa Activity Challenge Cup. The award is based on a school’s success in all types of school activities. This is the fifth time in seven years that the school has placed first for the award. Kuemper President, John Steffes, is proud of the continued success and hard work of the students and staff.

Bank Iowa Regional President, Scott Brus, was at the assembly to present the award. Brus said the award is titled the Activity Award, but academics play a major role in deciding a winner.

More than half of the 1,040 points scored for the cup were scored in academic pursuits. The new high school principal, Pete Haefs, who started in July, is pleased with the students’ enthusiasm.

Of all the schools in Iowa, Kuemper placed seventh overall and defeated the closest school, Sheldon, by over 200 points. Bank Iowa awarded $2,000 to Kuemper to be used for future projects within the school. To celebrate the prize, Kuemper students played Kuemper-themed Family Feud and created a video containing many of the extracurricular groups at the school. That video can be found by following the link included below.
