Ashlyn Haley Wilkins-South of Jefferson was transported to the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room to be evaluated for possible injuries after her vehicle dropped nearly 10 feet off a parking area at approximately 5:03 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31. Wilkins was parking her 2014 Chevrolet Impala in the private parking lot at 1000 West Lincolnway Street, but had pulled too far forward in the parking space. She was attempting to back up, but mistakenly put the car in drive and pressed the accelerator. The car leapt forward and off the edge of the elevated parking area, landing on all four tires on the sidewalk and slightly on the roadway below. Both front airbags deployed in the accident and the car is considered to be a total loss.
