Jefferson Man Arrested After Holding Estranged Wife Against Her Will Saturday

Fifty-year-old James Alan Watters of Jefferson was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) on charges of: first-degree burglary, a class B felony; assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, a class D felony; intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony; and domestic abuse assault/display or use of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charges against Watters stem from an incident on Saturday, Dec. 10, in which it is alleged he entered the home of his estranged wife on Pinet Street and held her against her will after gaining control of the woman’s handgun and shooting a round into the roof.
