The Jefferson Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of smoke coming from under an apartment door at the Shamrock Apartments at 305 North Wilson Ave. in Jefferson at approximately 1:33 p.m. Friday afternoon. The caller said that she had knocked on the apartment door, but had not received an answer. When officers arrived and made entry into the apartment, they found that no one was at home. A pan had been left on the stove and was causing a large amount of smoke. The fire department used fans to clear the smoke from the building. No damages were reported.
