Jamie Lee Curtis Stumps For Clinton In Carroll Sunday

With her daughter grown, her son now out of high school and changes in her career, actress Jamie Lee Curtis said she had a little more free time to be able to jump on an airplane and head to Iowa to surrogate in the Hillary Clinton Presidential campaign. She told the crowd packed into the Iowa for Hillary office in Carroll yesterday afternoon (Sunday) that this is the first time she has been able to do this, and there are a lot of reasons she is so strongly supporting Clinton. One of the reasons, she says, is as a recovering addict, she sees similarities to the recovery program that builds bonds by relating to what is important.

Pledging to support the campaign in any way she can past the Iowa caucus on Feb. 1, Curtis also said these appearances were not something she sought out, they were actually the result of a Tweet she sent after the second-to-last Democratic debate.

The chain of events that led her to Iowa is an example of the twists and turns life can make on a moment’s notice. She says the life we planned seldom ends up being the life we live, and that is why we need Clinton in office. We need someone who can adapt and overcome the obstacles and challenges that will occur. And in looking at Clinton’s platform and the issues the country is facing. Curtis says there are two that have the most importance to her and her family’s future.

And when asked which title from any of the movies or television shows she has been in or from any of the children’s books she has authored best summarizes this election, Curtis said it is most like the book “Is There Really A Human Race.” In this book on competition, a little boy is freaking out that life is nothing but a big competition and he is terrified the world will explode unless we do something about this. The mother comforts the little boy in the last eight lines of the book.

We will bring you more from Jamie Lee Curtis’ Carroll visit in upcoming broadcasts
