ISU Professor Named As Department Chair

Effective July 1, a nationally recognized Iowa State University (ISU) professor will be taking over as chair of the Department of Agricultural Education and Studies.  Mike Retallick joined Iowa State in 2001 and currently serves as a professor in the department.   Last year, he was one of six educators to receive the National Association of Agricultural Educators Teacher Mentor Award, as well as the Iowa FFA Association’s 2015 Distinguished Service Award.  He will be replacing Dr. William Miller, who served for seven years as the interim department chair.  The Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Wendy Wintersteen said, “I look forward to working with Dr. Retallick, an accomplished teacher and scholar, in continuing the department’s great work.  Educating agricultural students is [at] the core of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.”  Wintersteen went on to thank Dr. Miller for his service to the department.  Miller will continue to serve as a professor at the university.
