ISU Dean Of Agriculture Recognized For Service To Ag

Another Iowa State University (ISU) staff member has been recognized nationally for their efforts to promote agriculture. Windy Wintersteen, dean of agriculture and life sciences at ISU, was awarded the 2016 Carl F. Hertz Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers on Nov. 9 at the 87th annual meeting of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in Indian Wells, Calif. Wintersteen was selected for the award based on her “tireless efforts and commitment to agriculture and her leadership and contribution to Iowa, national and international agriculture.” She is the tenth dean of agriculture in ISU’s 158 year history. She has served as dean since 2006 and has been employed with the university for more than 30 years. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in agriculture from Kansas State University before attending ISU to attain her Ph.D. in entomology. She joined a list that goes back more than 40 years of five ISU alumni that have received the award.
