Over 5,000 central Iowa students will be filling Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 9 to watch the Iowa Energy take on the Westchester Knicks for the seventh annual Education Celebration. Sponsored by MidAmerican Energy, this program gives kids in kindergarten through ninth-grade a break from the traditional classroom setting and allows them to learn through interactive activities with the players. Activities during the game will focus on a variety of different educational topics while students get to witness sportsmanship and teamwork firsthand. Player videos on the arena video board and a workbook with quizzes and word games will commemorate Black History Month, promote anti-bullying and educate the kids on the importance of energy efficiency. Player trading cards with tips on how students can make their home and school more energy efficient will be handed out. Tickets to the education Celebration game can be purchased by calling 515-564-8550, visiting www.IowaNBA.com or by stopping by the arena box office. The game is open to all fans and tip-off is at 10:30 a.m.
