Iowa StateTreasurer Discusses Clinton’s 100-Day Job Plan

Democratic Iowa State Treasurer, Michael Fitzgerald, was in Carroll today (Wednesday) touring the western portion of the state promoting Hillary Clinton’s 100-Day Jobs Plan. While he was in town, he gave a more in-depth look at what the plan entails. One of the major topics he addressed was in the field of production.

Another portion of Clinton’s plan focuses on “living wages” for employees rather than people getting aid from the government.

He went on to say that keeping jobs in the US is critically important to the economy, and that Clinton’s plan involves putting an “exit tax” on companies leaving the country. Trade deals have also been a major talking point during the election.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a trade agreement that has seen pushback from both candidates and includes 12 countries with coastlines on the Pacific Ocean like Japan, Mexico and the US. The agreement has not been ratified by the US yet. While Fitzgerald was in Carroll, he also spoke about the financial health of our state. A full update on that in a future report.
