Iowa Ranks In Top Five For Millennials

For Millennials, finding a job can be a much tougher task than with other age groups as their unemployment rate is running double the national average. Even with them being highly mobile, two-thirds of U.S. states are reporting double-digit unemployment rates for Millennials. So when it comes to selecting where they want to do their job hunting, they need to take a closer look at those with a more friendly economic environment. MoneyRates.com has done a large part of the work for them already by analyzing all 50 states and the District of Columbia to rate them on eight different economic and lifestyle factors that are important to Millennials: jobs, affordable rent; nightlife; access to broadband; and other similar amenities. You may be surprised to learn that the Midwest rated at the top of the list with Iowa coming in fourth, beaten only by North and South Dakota and Nebraska. These rankings, which place Washington State and California in the top five worst states for Millennials, seems to go against popular perceptions. They may not seem glamorous, said MoneyRates senior financial analyst, Richard Burlington, but being unemployed is not very glamorous either. Click here to see the full report.
