Des Moines Native and Oscar-winning actress, 90-year-old Cloris Leachman, will return to her hometown at the end of August to share stories about her career and participate in several events in her honor. Leachman will attend a question and answer session at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at the State Historical Museum and then will attend the Playhouse Legends Award at 4 p.m. that afternoon at the Des Moines Community Playhouse. Sunday at 1 p.m., Leachman will join John Busbee, host of KFMG’s “The Culture Buzz,” to discuss differing perspectives of the entertainment industry with producer Eddie Rissien. Sunday evening Leachman will close out the weekend at The Cloris Awards, the second annual ceremony of her namesake prize, The Cloris Leachman Excellence in Theatre Awards. This local version of the Tony’s will start at 6 p.m. at the Des Moines Social Club.
