The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that on Tuesday, Aug. 2, Gov. Terry Branstad will recognize 22 Iowa organizations, businesses and communities at the Iowa Environmental Excellence awards ceremony. The public is invited to attend the 4 p.m. ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda and a reception that will follow. Two of the awards will go to Ames based businesses and initiatives, with recognition for air quality going to the Fighting Burrito and an award for outstanding education for the Water Rocks! program at Iowa State University. Pure Fishing of Spirit Lake will be receiving the Overall Environmental Excellence award.
