Iowa Cattlemen’s Association Hosting Educational Forums

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is kicking of 2016 with educational forums. On Jan. 19, they will partner with the Iowa Beef Center and the Iowa State University Extension to offer a Feedlot Forum in Sioux Center at the Terrace View Event Center. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and focus on defending agriculture sustainability, competitiveness, antimicrobial usage and profitability. Cost to attend the event is $25 with a reduced rate of $10 for students. Registration for that event is due Jan. 12 to the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Sioux County. On Jan. 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., another feedlot forum will be held at the Carrollton in Carroll. This session will offer a market outlook and discussion on the quickly approaching Veterinary Feed Directive. Attendees will hear from area producers who will be sharing their environmental compliance stories and they will have the opportunity to learn from state officials about their response plan during a Foreign Animal Disease outbreak.
