Iowa Attorney General Supports EPA Biofuel Production Increases for 2017

This past Wednesday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced increases to blended fuel mandates for ethanol and biofuels in 2017 under the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS). Iowa Attorney General, Tom Miller, says he applauds the Obama administration’s decision and that he has long been a strong advocate for ethanol, having urged the EPA to take similar action in 2014. “The production of renewable fuels is a critical part of Iowa’s economy,” he said, “providing a key market for agricultural crops and creating thousands of jobs.” Last week’s announcement is consistent with Congress’ intent to move the U.S. toward greater energy independence and security, in addition to increasing the production of clean renewable fuels.
