Investigation Ongoing Into Accident That Killed Motorcyclist Saturday

The Iowa State Patrol is continuing an investigation into an accident south of Irwin in Shelby County that claimed the life of an Irwin man. At approximately 7:03 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 41-year-old David Michael Hirsh of Irwin was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra southbound on County Road M47 near 1700th Street. He came up behind a 2004 Yamaha TW200E, driven by 46-year-old Cole Jon Andersen of Irwin, who was also driving southbound. The Hirsh vehicle struck the Andersen motorcycle, resulting in Andersen’s death. The Shelby and Audubon County Sheriff’s Offices, Harlan Police Department, Defiance Fire Department and Medivac assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
