Indie Author Event Tomorrow At Carroll Public Library

In celebration of NaNoWriMo—National Novel Writing Month—the Carroll Public Library will be hosting a special Indie author event tomorrow (Saturday) to celebrate all current and aspiring novelists. Library Director, Brandie Ledford first clarified exactly what an Indie author is.

She said they are really celebrating authors who take the digital route on Saturday, and they will be kicking off a new service for patrons.

There is also a NaNoWriMo challenge for local authors to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. Ledford said they had one winner who completed this task last year and are looking forward to helping others do the same this year. There will be area Indie authors present, selling and signing their work, and at 1 p.m., there will be a live-streaming Indie author event. Ledford said it is being streamed from South Carolina, so there is a slight chance the hurricane will interrupt service, but there are a lot of other activities as well. Anyone interested will be given a kit to help them write their novel, and Ledford and her staff have included some unique items into the giveaway.

Snacks will be available at this free event, but attendees are encouraged to bring a bag lunch at noon to join in the activities prior to the live-streaming event at 1 p.m. and the workshops that will follow. Anyone with questions, or Indie authors interested in attending can contact library staff at 792-3432, or simply come by on Saturday to participate.
