The Carroll County Housing Committee is meeting nearly every other week on developing ways to implement the strategies that were presented in the Carroll County Housing Assessment completed last May by RDG Planning and Design. The $30,000 study was a joint effort between the City and County and Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC). Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says the committee is working through the study’s framework to get word out about incentives for housing.
This program offers a refund of state sales, service or use taxes the developer pays during construction along with an investment tax credit up to a maximum of 10 percent of the construction or rehabilitation investment. These tax credits are fully transferrable.
Landauer said the study has been a catalyst for the City of Carroll to enter into a housing rehab project and for St. Anthony Regional Hospital to build Garden View Assisted Living.
